UTA took over Main Street at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival from Friday, January 19th through Sunday, January 21st. Throughout the weekend, UTA welcomed filmmakers, talent, tastemakers, brand leaders, and industry partners for a full slate of programming and events. See below for the highlights.
UTA transformed the Kaneo restaurant into a modular event space hosting panels, dinners, happy hours, a lounge, meeting spaces, and even one of the largest parties on Main Street. The fully branded space inside and out featured a one story tall dimensional UTA logo, as well as custom lighting and sound throughout the venue. UTA brought back Los Angeles experiential company Mirrored Media to design and produce the activation.
Women in Film (WIF) - Confidence To Be: Powerful Producers Driving Modern Storytelling
To kick things off, UTA hosted a panel with Women in Film (WIF) titled “Confidence To Be: Powerful Producers Driving Modern Storytelling.” Moderated by WIF’s CEO Kristen Schaffer, the producer panelists included, Bronte Payne (My Old Ass), Heather Rae (Fancy Dance), Kira Carstensen (Your Monster), Nikkia Moulterie (Nanny), and Stephanie Allain (Exhibiting Forgiveness). It was standing room only, and legendary independent film producer Christine Vachon was in the audience, getting a special shoutout from Allain, who called her the OG!
UTA Entertainment & Culture Marketing x Amazon Prime Video Brand Leader’s Cocktail and Dinner
In partnership with Amazon Prime Video, UTA’s Entertainment & Culture Marketing division hosted their annual exclusive cocktail reception and seated dinner for brand partners who were activating at the festival. Among those in attendance were Craig Brommer, American Eagle CMO, Heather Freeland, Adobe Chief Brand Officer, Kimberly Doebereiner, P&G Studio Head of P&G Studios, Ola Campri, Campari Entertainment Marketing, Jim Habig, LinkedIn VP of Marketing, Adia Matthews, Hulu VP.
Antigravity Academy x SuperSpecial - Multi-Hyphenate Mavericks Panel
Saturday’s day of programming kicked off with a conversation led by Carlos López Estrada (Exhibiting Forgiveness) and Amy Aniobi of SuperSpecial, talking with other multi-hyphenates Residente, Sadé Clacken Joseph (Ponyboi) and Xolo Maridueña (Blue Beetle) about the power of multi-disciplinary work and the constant crossover of independent talent
LinkedIn Presents: Celebrating Creativity in B2B Marketing
The day continued with a discussion moderated by Mia Galuppo (Film Writer, The Hollywood Reporter), and special guests Academy Award winning filmmaker Ben Proudfoot (The Queen of Basketball) and LinkedIn’s VP of Marketing Jim Habig about the power of innovation and creativity in marketing.
Titus Kaphar’s Exhibiting Forgiveness Cocktail Reception
To celebrate Kaphar’s film, Exhibiting Forgiveness, which is an official selection for the US Dramatic Competition at the festival and having its world premiere, UTA welcomed him and his cast and crew, including producer Stephanie Allain, and stars André Holland, John Earl Jelks, Andra Day, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor.
UTA Main Street Party
The day ended with a highly anticipated party celebrating UTA’s clients, creative partners and industry endeavors. Guests partied on Main Street until 1:00am and the line remained wrapped around the corner while DJ Jennifer Sunnfors kept spinning the tracks for the evening. In attendance were Issa Rae, Billy Magnussen, Benedict Wong, Daniel Dae Kim, Dom Dolla, Jay Ellis, Daniel Ezra, Tristan Wilds, Steve Levitan, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Carlos López Estrada.
UTA House Filmmaker Brunch
On Sunday, UTA hosted their annual filmmaker brunch, sponsored by Simply, and brought together artists, filmmakers, creators and executives. Guests included Jack Begert, Tristan Wilds, Carlos López Estrada, Congressman Maxwell Frost, Benedict Wong, Jameel Saleem and Alex Gibney, among others.
