Kicking off Weekend 1, Barbie brought her “You Can Be Anything” mantra to Coachella by inviting fans to step into a world that celebrates individuality and self-expression – reintroducing an icon to a new generation at one of the most expressive festivals in the world. Barbie dominated the headlines and socials for Weekend 1, ranking the #1 brand discussed online!

Barbie headed to the desert to host the brand’s first-ever activation at Coachella, “You Can Be Any Barbie.” Weekend 1 drew a major crowd, as guests enjoyed an immersive experience celebrating Barbie’s many personas while encouraging fans to create their own Barbie moment, express their own Barbie persona, and embrace their limitless potential. The interactive branded world included:

Barbie Entrance Gallery Wall: Enter through a polished entry corridor featuring a photo gallery showcasing Barbie dolls, unique Barbie personas, and charms.

Barbie Charm Bar: Find a seat at the Barbie Charm Bar for a luxury styling moment to make a custom Barbie-inspired charm that matches your Barbie persona. Show off your personality as a Main Character Barbie, Y2K Barbie, Green Flag Ken and more.

Barbie Photo Opps: Show off your Barbie persona and customized charm in the portrait studio, which features professional studio lighting and a Barbie x Coachella backdrop for the ultimate photo opp that prints physical as well as sends directly for social sharing. 

As a brand that grows and evolves with its fans, Barbie delivered an unforgettable, out-of-the-box Coachella experience designed to celebrate creativity and showing up exactly as you are – because you can be any Barbie, on your own terms.

Barbie also teamed up with Fashion Tastemaker, Activist, and Rising Television Personality, Olandria Carthen – who embraces individuality and creativity as a model, influencer, and TV personality – and Entrepreneur, DJ, and Global Pop Culture Icon, Paris Hilton – who celebrates confidence and self-expression as a businesswoman, entertainer, and media personality -- to bring their magnetic energy to the desert while also helping fans channel their own inner Barbie personas at Coachella. 

The activation was designed and produced by experiential agency Mirrored Media who has a long history of working with Mattel across Barbie, Uno, and Hot Wheels.
